From the last round of the MKS - Government Commission talks:
Lech Wałęsa:
I want to thank once again Mr Prime Minister and all those forces which prevented the imposition of any forcible solution, thanks to which we really came to terms with each other as a Pole with a Pole. Without the use of force. [...]
Dear all! We go back to work on 1 September. [...] Have we achieved everything that we wanted, that we want, that we dream about? I always say frankly and openly what I think. And now I am going to be frank - not everything, but we all know that we have achieved very much. You trusted me at all times, so please believe in what I say: we have achieved all that we could achieve in the present situation. And we will achieve the rest, too, because we have the most important thing: our independent, self-governing trade unions. This is our guarantee for the future. [...] I declare the strike finished.

Mieczysław Jagielski:
Throughout our joint work we tried to understand the intentions by which you were motivated. [...] We talked the way Poles should talk. There are no losers and no winners. No defeated and no subdued. [...] I will say: we came to an agreement!
